Is Your Pet Stressed Out?
When we get stressed by work or life, we can talk with friends, binge-watch Narcos on Netflix, or head to the spa. But your fur-babies don’t have the same paw-portunities to de-stress. It’s up to us to make sure our pets are calm, happy, and carefree!
One of the biggest sources of stress for dogs is a change in routine. As you’ve probably noticed from that 6 AM cold-nose weekend wakeup call, they LOVE schedules. They don’t care if you were out late the night before – it’s time to GO!
To keep them stress-free, stick to their routine as much as possible for sleeping, feeding, and playtime. (And if you’re having a busy time at work, give us a call so we can help keep your sweetie’s routine consistent.)
Another source of anxiety is boredom. Yup, even furbabies can get bored, and it stresses them out! Fight the “blahs” with regular playtimes, extra snuggles, and frequent walks. Mix it up by rotating toys every few weeks and trying new routes through the neighborhood. They’ll love the variety!
And while a little variety is good, overstimulation – loud noises, strange faces (furry or human), and too much activity – can be overwhelming. If your home is crazy, make sure you give them lots of paw-sitive attention and create a safe space where they can get away from the hubbub.
And if your life is just too busy, Sitter For Your Critters would love to help you out! We specialize in making your furry friends feel loved and appreciated. Give us a call today (530) 774-4995!
